Bishop Kearney Way Street Renaming Bay Parkway and 61st Street on 10/16

On Saturday, October 16th there will be a renaming for Bay Parkway and 61st Street. It will be renamed Bishop Kearney Way for the fantastic high school at 2202 – 60th Street, which educated thousands of women in Brooklyn for 58 years before closing in 2019. The ceremony will take place at 11:30 am.

Many alumna of the school are planning to attend because the school and motto, “One a Kearney Girl Always a Kearney Girl” mean a lot to those who attended the school.

Sister Virginia Lake is going to be there!
This sign the Saint A’s shared, but 61st is the block, not 60th Street.

The Street Renaming Ceremony will have:
a) A Commencement Speech
b) A Benediction and Blessing of the Sign by Monsignor Cassato
c) Sister Virginia Lake will speak
d) Unveiling of the new street sign, which has been deemed to Sister Virginia Lake.
This street naming was approved in December 2019. (See here)
