Bay Ridge Was Gerrymandered By Democrats After Redistricting It’s District 26
This was Bay Ridge’s Senate District which extended to Marine Park.

Andrew Gounardes and other Democrats has the ability to make fair districts for the House, Senate and Assembly. In 2019, Gounardes knew that politicians should not be able to choose their voters.

Instead of making a fair district map, Gounardes voted for this to be the map of his district:

He eliminated Republicans and Asians from Dyker Heights from the district.
Gounardes felt he was entitled to Sunset Park. Andrew doesn’t speak Spanish and he has never lifted a finger to help that community! Gounardes should have had the integrity to form a fair district.
Sunset Park is an immigrant community and it should not have been divided. All these politicians know that.
The Courts ruled that the maps Gounardes voted for were gerrymandered (Yes, Andrew Gounardes is a gerrymander.)
They appointed a special Master who gave us the map below dividing Bay Ridge in three sections. We were thrilled to be in 17 with Dyker Heights because we were free from Gounardes.

Then Bay Ridge Democrats and some politicians wrote letters and the district was changed back to what Gounardes and the Democrats initially did.

Andrew Gounardes used to speak out against gerrymandering. Then he became someone who voted for a gerrymandered Brooklyn. He had the chance to make fair districts, but chose not to. None of these district maps or information about redistricting were shared with the community in any of his e-mails or literature.
We are stuck with these district lines for 10 years.
