Andrew Gounardes Spent $844.00 at a Restaurant in Puerto Rico in November

On November 8th, Senator Andrew Gounardes paid $844.86 to Serafina Restaurant in Puerto Rico.

Andrew Gounardes participates in the campaign finance program. Meaning: His campaign money is matched with our tax dollars ($6.00 for every dollar he raised up to $250). (Info)

The campaign finance program was supposed to make it fair for new candidates to compete in a NYC election. I’m not sure why Andrew Gounardes would think taxpayers funds should cover his restaurant bill.

Days earlier on November 5, 2024, Gounardes paid $3,082.00 to The Lockyard in Bay Ridge

The Lockyard is owned by Gounardes’ friend, Kayla Santosusso, who Gounardes endorsed for office. (More info)

Years ago, Andrew Gounardes spoke out about Golden’s spending. Gounardes should be banned from the campaign finance program!

Justin Brannan Has Not Talked About Crime in Bay Ridge For Years…Now He’s Running for Another Office And Wants To

Today, Justin Brannan tweeted about crime, but he hasn’t been real about crime in our community for years.

When fourteen women were raped within the 68th Precinct this year, not one politician or police officer spoke about it. You can speak about rape without giving any details about the victim. Were any of the rapists caught?

Ridgites are reporting crimes to each other on social media because the politicians don’t care and the police don’t have the staff. People are saying where thefts, alerts and weird interactions are happening so their neighbors stay safe.

Brannan failed to mention that many crimes go unreported because people know that nothing is going to happen, so they don’t want to waste their time. In the past, people have reported crimes to the 68th Precinct and the precinct has not always taken the crime report.

When crimes happened in Bay Ridge, Justin Brannan was silent most of the time.

Meeting to Demap Coney Island Streets for a Casino Developer January 9th- BROOKLYN STAND UP!

On Thursday, January 9th there will be a meeting about the casino in Coney Island at the YMCA at 2980 West 29th Street in Coney Island at 7:00 pm.

Coney Island is the People’s Playground. Councilman Justin Brannan is not standing up for Coney Island. In 2023, I told you why Justin Brannan would be the worst person to be a representative in Coney Island. (See here)

Brooklyn, I know some of you LOVE Coney Island. If you don’t want them to demap the streets above for a casino, it’s time to stand up! (When public property is given to a private company, you know we have a problem).

The Coney wants to construct their large building there and the streets will no longer exist.

In November, Chris McCreight, Brannan’s chief-of-staff ran for the NYS Assembly seat in Bay Ridge and Coney Island. McCreight said he was against a casino because most people in Coney Island are against the casino. McCreight didn’t tell the community that he was lobbied by the casino – he was named in the lobbyist database – see here)

Dyker Heights residents, we saw you win on 86th Street, when you stood together. I am hoping enough Brooklynites can come and speak up for Coney Island.

If you would like the opportunity to speak for two minutes, you MUST sign up in advance by emailing: hglikman@cb.nyc.gov

They want you to attend by Zoom, so they can ignore you.

You can attend by zoom: Meeting ID: 827 1743 7304

Why Does Kayla Santosuosso Call a Person Donating $500 To Her Campaign a Captain?

Kayla Santosuosso is running for Bay Ridge’s NYC Council seat.

Kayla’s campaign fundraiser advertisement listed hosts and donation levels. Kayla’s husband is listed as a host. I’ve never seen a politician list their spouse on the host list.

Notice that someone donating $500 to Kayla’s campaign is a “captain.” (See below)

That about sums up Bay Ridge’s and Coney’s Island’s problems – we have too many captains in our community.

In November, Kayla campaigned for Chris McCreight. Chris McCreight told people he was against a casino in Coney Island. McCreight is listed in the lobbyist database for being lobbied by TSG Coney Island Entertainment Holding Co. (More info)

Chris McCreight also accepted a donations to his campaign from the lobbyist from the casino.

Why did Kayla support McCreight? Chris McCreight had his campaign fundraisers at The Lockyard, which Kayla and her husband own. While McCreight’s campaign didn’t turn out the way he wanted, Kayla did well.

Between 2023 and 2024, McCreight spent $5405.00 at The Lockyard.

Between 2021 and 2022, Chris McCreight spent: $3768.32 at the Lockyard:

On November 5th, 2024, Senator Andrew Gounardes had a $3,082.39 “office expense” from The Lockyard.

This past month Justin Brannan did a “carve out” of the City of Yes, which included homes below Ridge Blvd and of course Justin Brannan’s property. Residents above Ridge Blvd will experience the City of Yes, while Brannan excluded himself. Even if Kayla Santosusso supported the City of Yes, she was too timid to speak out against Brannan for excluding his property?

Justin Brannan bragged to the Brooklyn Young Democrats that the average person has no idea what is going on. (Play the video below – caution adjust sound – profanity) Justin Brannan hid information from our community, so that’s why the average Ridgite doesn’t know what they should know.

This is the mentality of some of our politicians. We saw Brannan, Gounardes and Chu fail to share the letters they received from NYC about the homeless shelter in Bay Ridge. (Info) The information wasn’t meant for an exclusive group of politicians.

Kayla became the president of the Bay Ridge Democrats this Fall. As a member of the Bay Ridge Democrats, why was Kayla Santosusso silent when Bay Ridge was severely gerrymandered? Why didn’t she speak out against politicians who withheld information about the homeless shelter?

Thankfully, Bay Ridge and Coney Island voted against Chris McCreight, we have all had enough of the nonsense!

Dyker Heights elected their neighbor, Steve Chan, who is not a politician. Let’s do that Bay Ridge – throw your hat in if you can fight (and avoid lobbyists too).

Meeting for Grocery Store Owners & Managers About Stopping EBT Scams – January 9th

EBT Scams are on the rise. Some families and seniors have a Snap EBT card to get food at stores (EBT stands for Electronic Benefit Transfer).

Scammers have gotten increasingly better at stealing money off of EBT cards. Steve Chan shared that over 1,000 cases of stolen EBT card money had been reported in District 17.

When a person gets robbed at a store, they tell everyone they know and people stop going to that store because they don’t want to get scammed!

If you are a grocery store owner or manager, please attend this seminar on Thursday, January 9th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm to learn how to prevent fraud.

Register here: https://forms.gle/eWvgPivspprG3Tav7 or Call 646-580-6612 to register.

This is the first time I have seen an event like this in our area. It’s nice to see many politicians collaborating with Steve Chan and helping business owners.

Co-hosted by:

Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (District 11)

Assemblyman Lester Chang (District 49)

Assemblyman William Colton (District 47)

Assemblyman Michael Tannousis (District 64)

Assemblyman Michael Novakhov (District 45)

NYC Council Member Susan Zhuang (District 43)

NYC Council Member David Carr (District 50)
