Raccoon Removal in Bay Ridge
Calling 311 will not bring any help! The city says the raccoons are your problem, just like bugs in your yard or a mouse in your house are your problem.
If a raccoon has rabies, it will have a dazed look, be walking around in circles. The raccoon will look like it is not aware of its surroundings and often there is a limp to their gait. The city will send someone out to get the sick animal when you call 311.

On a warm February 2019 day, James came out to Bay Ridge to help a racoon that looked stuck.
But when he got to Bay Ridge, the raccoon as gone and he took the pic below to show everyone. Good man!
It was long thought that raccoons were nocturnal. Apparently they are not!
If you see a raccoon in your yard during the day, it doesn’t mean it is rapid. It’s perfectly normal for raccoons to be active throughout the day. It doesn’t mean they are sick or dangerous. Some raccoons chose to look for food for longer hours because they are pregnant or recently gave birth. Some raccoons choose to explore a yard when it is quiet and there are no other animals in the yard.

c) If a raccoon is stuck, you can call Sean at Sean Casey Animal Rescue to rescue it. Look 718-436-5163
Or you can stop a raccoon from entering your yard:
a) Purchase coyote urine on Amazon. $15.00+ Coyote urine scares them away (proven true in Bay Ridge). You pour it near where the raccoon enters your yard and he won’t return.
b) Get a motion activated sprinkler $30+ that keeps all pets out of the yard.
Oh yeah don’t fight the raccoon – it will growl and hiss if you hit it with something. Lee tried to stop a raccoon from eating a kitten! It was too late – the raccoon ate the head and front paws of the kitten while the mother cat was out searching for food.
Raccoons may have rabies so you don’t want them to bite you, your kids or pets. Opossums are less dangerous because of a strong immune system and it is rare for them to have rabies. They are still creepy though.
