Don B. Lee Street Renaming – 70th & 15th Ave.

Today, 70th Street and 15th Avenue was renamed in honor of Don Lee.

Don Lee was an activist, who fought for the Asian Community in Brooklyn and in Chinatown. See all the times he spoke out here:

Two hundred people attended to support Don’s wife and daughter and honor his memory as they pulled the cover off the new sign.
New York City celebrated a legend this weekend by renaming a street in Brooklyn after Don B. Lee. We miss you my friend. May your legacy live on forever. #aapiheritagemonth #aapimonth #aapi @HCS_Homecrest pic.twitter.com/95DBC8qOXx

I don’t know of any streets that were named after Asian leaders in the area, but no one has said this is the first one for the area either.
