Is Kayla Santosuosso a Socialist? She’s Running for Bay Ridge’s NYC Council Seat – District 47

Kayla Santosuosso, a staff member for Councilman Justin Brannan is running for his seat. We know Kayla from El Yateem’s election. He was a Socialist. Is Kayla a socialist? Her mailings do not mention socialism. Strangely, there is no mention of a debate before the election.
Justin Brannan and Senator Andrew Gounardes are backing Kayla. They would tell us if she was a Socialist, right? No. Brannan and Gounardes have supported Brad Lander’s campaign in the past and they didn’t share that he was a Socialist.
What we have seen from Kayla:
1) In 2017, Kayla Santosuosso was the campaign manager for Khader El Yateem, a Palestinian pastor whose was a Socialist and BDS supporter. El-Yateem’s campaign was supported by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

2) Danya Lagos shared a letter signed by the members of the New York Democratic Socialists of America supporting Cynthia Nixon and Jumaane Williams in July 2018. Kayla Santosuosso‘s name and SBK is next to her name. See here:

3) In 2020, Kayla Santosuosso was selected as a national delegate candidate for the Bernie Sanders 2020 presidential campaign. Bernie Sanders is a socialist.

4) On April 21, 2025, Radiofree Bay Ridge posted an interview with Kayla Santosuosso. Kayla talked about the her friend Abdulla, who asked her to run as a DSA candidate against Brannan (she explained she was already supporting El Yateem). *Radiofree Bay Ridge did not interview Fedir Usmanov because they said they are Kayla’s friend.

a) Brad Lander – yes, he’s a socialist
b) Sean Abreu – he’s a Progressive
Santosuosso has not announced socialism in her election. Yet, she has managed a Socialist’s campaign and supported other Socialist politicians.
Whether you like socialism (or not), I think you can agree, no one seeking help at a politician’s deserves to be treated like this by Kayla:
