The Victory Fund Endorsed Silence – Kevin Peter Carroll
Before same sex marriage was legal in New York State, New Yorkers who wished to wed, went to other states to get married.
In 2008, the Supreme Court ruled that because New York legally recognizes out-of-state marriages of opposite-sex couples, it must do the same for same-sex couples.
In 2011, Senator Golden created a bill because he didn’t want NY to recognize same sex marriage from other states.
I never heard Kevin Peter Carroll say anything to Golden or the local papers about this. He and his political group weren’t named on the marriage equality rally held in Bay Ridge either. (see below)
It’s strange the Victory Fund endorsed him because we’ve never heard him speak out on this topic.
Then I saw this on the Victory Fund site:
Whattt? Bay Ridge is still a gerrymandered district so I don’t know what Kevin thinks he accomplished on this.
So many people have taken credit for the B37 bus including Senator Golden, Assemblywoman Malliotakis and Vincent Gentile.
I wouldn’t speak about safer streets in Bay Ridge as that is an issue of concern for many right now. More law enforcement is needed.
Hugs,
marlene
