1) Red, White and Blue Pancakes at Hom at 8810 3rd Avenue. 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

2) Barbecue at The Leif Bar at 6725 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge at 2:00 PM.

1) Irish Haven Bar on 4th Avenue and 58th Street is having a Hot Dog Bar starting at 1:00 pm.

2) Soccer Tavern on 60th Street and 8th Avenue is having a barbecue starting at 1:00 pm.


1) Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest will take place outside of Nathans at 1310 Surf Avenue (on the corner of Stillwell Avenue) in Coney Island. (More info)

10:00 am: They setup and have performances
11:00 am: Women’s Contest
12:30 pm: Men’s Contest
ESPN will show this contest on television from 10:45 am to 1 pm
*People hang out at Coney Island Beach during the day and then there are fireworks on the Boardwalk at 9:45 pm.

1) Roller Skating at Brooklyn Bridge Park at 150 Furman Street – Pier 2. 10:00 am – 10:00 pm. Admission: $8.00 (Skate rental $8.00)


1) Travis Staten Island Independence Parade – Starts at noon at Independence Park in Travis (Corner of Victory Blvd and Glenn Street)

The houses in Travis are decorated for the 4th of July House Decorating Contest so it’s nice to drive around and see them.

Empire Outlets at 55 Richmond Terrace in Staten Island has a block party with nice things for kids. It starts at 3:00 pm and goes all day. (Info here)
