Swim Lesson for babies 3 months old and up and children in Brooklyn
1) BRAINS – stands for Bay Ridge Aquatics INStitute. Children learn fast because it is nine consecutive days of swim instruction for children. $200. Ages 6 to 13 years old. Phone: 347-267-9469

2) Poly Prep Swimming Lessons 9216 Seventh Avenue Brooklyn 718-836-9800, ext. 3220
They are closed due to renovations. They usually have lessons for children 2-16 years old in a warm pool with several instructors. (10 classes were around $250) They also have a parent and child class for children 2-5 years old to splash around and get used to the water. And they had an adults learning to swim class in the outdoor pool which is just a few feet deep.

Lessons for children 6 months and up. Great reviews, but our friend said the water was cold. $301
Classes are on Saturday or Sunday for 45 minutes. Register for Fall 2023 here
Swimming classes Baby and me. For babies 20 months or younger (6 months is the youngest) with caregiver. We have a great time teaching babies to be comfortable in the water and teaching kicking and Arms and bubbles! Classes at 9:15 am Saturdays or Sundays 7 classes $301 for the session. (Closed Columbus Day weekend – not counted in the 7 weeks)
We also have Family Swim Sundays from 3:30pm to 4:30 pm . It’s $10/ person in the water. And $5/ swimmer who is already registered in classes. We have floaties and kickboards to use. All are welcome . The gym is open 45 min before to run around and play soccer or basketball before family swim.

One teacher – 4 students Classes are 45 minutes each – $290 for Level 1 /$510 for Level 2 and up (90 minutes) Heated pool
8) Prospect Park Y (YMCA) at 357 9th Street – Renovated place with New pool (now two pools) – Pool is heated and good for small children. This location has a family locker room. Older kids use their own pool. Mayor DeBlasio goes to this Y so you know it is good – super clean. Supplies towels too. Registration for swimming starts in September,

10) Shorefront YMCA/YWCA – Coney Island Avenue and Brighton beach. See classes. They also have a swim team.

12)Sunset Park Pool Free Summer Swimming Lessons – 44th Street and 7th Avenue *Summer*
Lessons for children 1.5 to 5 years old, ages 6-17 and adults too
NY Parks Department Free by lottery (you can win the lottery for multiple sessions)
Each session is 6 lessons for the child WITH his or her parent in the water with them up to children age 5. Each session is for 20-30 minutes long.
Parents can not be near the water with children 6 years. or older. Parents watch from the benches outside of the locker room.
No floaties or toys (kickboards or balls) allowed in the water.
This outdoor pool is ice cold except on very hot days. The pool is also deep so a small child can not stand up in this pool.
13) Red Hook Pool – NYC Free Summer Swimming – 155 Bay Street
Lessons for children 1.5 to 5 years old, ages 6-17 and adults too
NY Parks Department Free by lottery (you can win the lottery for multiple sessions)
Lessons are 30 minutes long. They sing songs and got the small children accustomed to the water. Pool noodles allowed to help the children float. The water is cold but not freezing.

FREE introductory lessons for kids ages 3 to 15 are on Saturdays 9AM and Wednesday 7PM

16) Brooklyn Sports Club – Newly renovated – there are two indoor pools at 80 to 82 degrees here. 1540 Van Sicklen Avenue Exit 14 on the Belt Pkwy – 20 minute drive
17) Kingsborough Community College has College for Kids Classes (several sessions throughout the year)
Swim lessons for children 5-13 (must be 52″ tall – they measure)

18) Greenpoint YMCA – mommy and me classes here are good. Our friend continued swimming here even three years later after her children all know how to swim. She loves it. See here
