Governor Cuomo’s Announcement on Schools
The rate of Covid-19 has dropped in some hotspots in Brooklyn and Queens. Yesterday, 2.17 was the citywide Covid positivity rate.
Bklyner shared this helpful map with data from 10/12 – 10/19: (See their excellent article)
Purple zones is where Covid tested high:
Mayor de Blasio said, “Central Queens is doing better this week. Brooklyn and the Rockaways will require another week or two.”
Around noon, Governor Cuomo announce that he will redraw the zones and release a new map tomorrow. Mayor de Blasio said they are not using zip code data, but they will be using the zone data until this is resolved.
Schools in some areas will be able to open as the zones are reduced in some areas. Cuomo said he is going to go “block-by-block.” See here
After Cuomo announced this on the news, Andrew Gounardes repeated the news like a parrot on social media. He pretended he was “fighting to re-open schools.”
Tweeting doesn’t equal “fighting.”
Here Andrew Gounardes interprets what he heard Governor Cuomo say on the news because Andrew thinks people don’t understand the governor.
We don’t need a parrot for the Mayor or Governor.
No, Andrew parents in schools in the yellow zone asked why their schools weren’t open last week.
Why didn’t Gounardes call Cuomo and get the information for parents when they asked him at the end of last week?
We need politicians who can lead, not ones who tweet.
Hugs,
marlene
