Relay for Life Event is on Saturday, June 8th

On Saturday, June 8th there is a huge Relay for Life event at the Parkville Youth ball field at at 854 – 65th Street. It starts at 1:00 pm.

While this is a fundraiser for cancer research, this is not a sad day. The event is full of hope and it’s fun day.

You can join the Brooklyn team here or donate to the team here.

You can also purchase a luminaria for a loved one here.

A luminaria is a paper bag that they write your loved ones name on. The bag has holes in it and they put a candle inside. When it gets dark, they put all the luminarias out on the field and light them. It’s beautiful.

Elaine Delaney is the organizer. Her email and phone number are on this page.

If you have never been to the Relay for Life Event in Brooklyn – stop by. It’s fantastic!

Very Pretty Mural on 3rd Avenue and 95th Street

The 95th St. Pharmacy is having a beautiful mural painted on the side of its building.

The talented Bay Ridge artist is Jenna Morello. (See her other work)

The mural is so pretty because the flowers are painted blue, white and light grey. It goes well with the store’s colors and it’s beautiful.

It’s really nice to see a business add to the beauty of a neighborhood!

The 95th St. Pharmacy is on 3rd Avenue and 95th Street in Bay Ridge.

Rite Aid – 3rd Avenue & 93rd Street in Bay Ridge

Lauren’s Photo

Most people would not believe that this store with the empty shelves is Rite Aid on 3rd Avenue and 93rd Street in Bay Ridge. Lauren shared the photos because it’s shocking to see a store in this shape and nothing is being done to help the store.

Lauren’s Photo

In April, Councilman Justin Brannan said that the Rite Aid on 93rd Street and 3rd Avenue was not closing. (See here) The Rite Aid on 4th Avenue and 62nd Street closed in the Fall due to Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

This store has been robbed many times. (See here) Many Bay Ridge residents have shared that they have seen Rite Aid (and Walgreens) get robbed – no one stops the thieves!
