Local Photograph Captures Crime in Progress

Tonight, Bay Ridge photographer, Tom Hilton captured a crime in progress on 4th Avenue and 94th Street.
Someone was taking a SUV (Grand Theft Auto) and then the person crashed the SUV crashed. The perp got out and started to run to get away. The NYPD chased the perp.

Then his pants fell down, he tripped on the street near Espresso Pizza. The police had him in custody. GO 68TH PRECINCT!!!

This is the second crime on this Avenue today. (See here) Not one politician mentioned either crime today. Yesterday, there was a shooting near the 7Eleven and Brannan shared about it. (See here)
We are grateful for the NYPD tonight. We are also thankful for Tom photos – it’s good to see the 68th Precinct are securing our streets.

Overturned Car on 81st Street-Bay Ridge
Tonight around 8:15 pm, a person flipped their car on 81st Street in Bay Ridge. (See video)
While the car laid on its side did the person driving it figure out what he or she did wrong?
The police and emergency response vehicles had to come out for this incident. If speed is found to be responsible for this incident, this person should be fined.

Andrew Gounardes Spoke Out Against Gerrymandering in 2019 and 2021….But is Silent About a Super Gerrymandered District
In 2019, Andrew Gounardes spoke out about gerrymandering. Gounardes has said, “Politicians should not be able to choose their own voters.”
In November 2021, again Andrew Gounardes wrote about gerrymandering again:
When our district was super gerrymandered — see map below, Andrew Gounardes was silent.
Gounardes did not speak out about Republicans being removed from his voting district and more Democratic voters being added from Sunset Park to Downtown Brooklyn.
Strangely, this senator gave input into his districts – see here.
Andrew Gounardes has been in office too long when he thinks this is okay. We may have to have elections three years in a row because this was done incorrectly (See article). Imagine how much money is going to be wasted over politicians not doing the right thing?

One Third of the GOP Voted Against Support for NATO. Nicole Malliotakis Voted for Support
Sixty-three Republicans House Republicans voted against support for NATO.”
Congresswoman Malliotakis serves on the House Committee for Foreign Affairs, I knew she wouldn’t vote against this because she has made strong recommendations to President Biden.

RIP Donal Nolan – Brooklyn Bards
I was sad to hear that Donal Nolan of the Brooklyn Bards passed away this morning. We just saw him!
Many people have been listening to the Brooklyn Bards for many years. We ran into them at Shore Road Park one day. They would show up and play at the park every Spring. It looked like this:
Donal was only 58 years old.
Donal had an amazing voice and played the flute. He will be missed by everyone who knew his music. Condolences to his family and his band.
His wake is at McLaughlin & Sons Funeral Home on Thursday, April 7th, 2022 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. His funeral service is at 7:00 pm. McLaughlin Funeral Home is at 9620 – 3rd Avenue.
RIP Donal. You music made so many people happy.

A Woman Was Assaulted with A Knife in Bay Ridge – 97th Street and 4th Avenue
Early this morning, a woman was stabbed with a knife in her shoulder on 4th Avenue and 97th Street.
Thankfully, her injuries are not life-threatening, but how scary this must have been for our Bay Ridge neighbor. We are glad she is alive!
It’s not something politicians or the police have spoken about — as usual.
Ladies, be careful. Small bottles of pepper spray are legal in NYS. You can get them from a firearms dealer or pharmacy (you have to fill in a small form).

The Milkman & Sons is a Brooklyn based band that plays Traditional Blues and Prohibition Jazz.
They are known for their ability to take audiences in a musical time machine by playing the music of such varied notables as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Fats Waller, Hoagy Carmichael and Little Walter as well as original music written in a similar style.
