March 14, 2022Karim Elsammak is Running for NYS Senate

Update: Karim ended his run for office after severe gerrymandering in the district.
Breaking News: Karim Elsammak is running for NYS Senate District 22.
Karim is not a professional politician (which is a good thing) – he’s a pilot.

Karim Elsammak is optimistic and wants to help Brooklyn! I particularly liked that he discussed dealing with Asian hate.
Since Karim isn’t a politician, he’s interesting. Hear him speak here. Elsammak is focusing on crime and reversing bail reform. I look forward to hearing more from him!
I’m glad to see that several people in this community are coming out to challenge Andrew Gounardes because Gounardes is a terrible senator.
In 2018, Gounardes told everyone that he was going to help with property taxes. In 2019, Gounardes wrote to me and told me that the following session he would get it done. HE LIED. We are in 2022 and The Property Tax Commission gave their report months ago and Gounardes failed to take action.
AYAB – The Alliance of Yemeni American Businesses endorsed Karim Elsammak.

March 14, 2022Coin Counting Machine in Bay Ridge

Scroll down to 4 and 5 for free options
1) Ridgewood Savings Bank has a Coinstar machine at 8522 3rd Avenue (85th Street), but it doesn’t allow people to get free Amazon or any other store certificates.

From the Coinstar machine at Ridgewood Bank, you can only get a receipt to bring to the banker and get cash. If you have an account at the bank, it’s free. If you don’t have an account there, they charge you 9% – see pic below.
TD Bank no longer has the coin counting machines because the bank said the machines were miscalculating and shortchanging customers.
Northfield Bank 8512 3rd Avenue used to allow everyone (even non-customers to use their machine) for free, but now they have this sign that it is for customers only.
2) The check cashing store on 4th Avenue and (Bay Ridge Avenue) 69th Street has a coin machine, but they charge you 10%. The machine there allows you to pour all your coins in at once and then it calculates it.
3) Check cashing place on 5th and 84th Street (Bayhurst Check Cashing 8317 – 5th Avenue) they charges a fee as well.
4) Free Coinstar – Stop and Shop 2965 Cropsey Ave, New York, New York 11214 – a lot of people go here because you can get Amazon gift codes from this one.
5) Free Coinstar – Stop and Shop at 625 Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn has a coin counting machine that doesn’t charge a fee if you choose the gift card option. You can choose a grocery gift card and pay for your groceries while you are there.
