Where can I see fireworks in Brooklyn on the 4th of July 2012?

2016 Updated Fourth of July Fireworks in Brooklyn HERE

All week long people have been asking me where they can see fireworks in Brooklyn on July 4th.

1) Since the Macy’s Fireworks show changed to the Hudson, it can’t be seen easily from South Brooklyn. Brooklyn peeps  flock to the 69th Street Pier to get a view of the  show down the river, but you have to be early to be on the pier (it fills up very fast) .  Many places along the coast in Brooklyn, like the Brooklyn Heights Promenade aren’t good spots to see the fireworks because the buildings block the view.

So go North to see Fireworks in Brooklyn:

  • The East River Park in Williamsburg (90 Kent Avenue) – great view – we went here and the view is great! (Yes I live closer to the 69th pier, but I knew that by 7 or 7:30 that pier is filled so we went to the Kent Ave Pier.
  • Louis Valentino, Jr. Park and Pier in Red Hook (Coffey St & Ferris St 11231)
  • Transmitter Park in Greenpoint (Greenpoint Avenue and West Street – Brooklyn 11222 ) – our friends went here last year and had gorgeous pictures
  • Grand Ferry Park in Williamsburg (a very small park on Grand St. and River St. 11211)

2) Coney Island will have fireworks on July 4, 2012. After the Cyclones game (which starts at 6pm), they have fireworks at sun down. Every Friday night after a game they have been having fireworks at 9:30 so it will be around that time (maybe 10 or  15 minutes earlier).  Brooklynites love to gather on the boardwalk to see the fireworks and although its not as big as a show as Macys, it is a great alternative because it is just Brooklyn traffic.

Coney Islands tweets can be seen here and they will share more info about the fireworks show on the 3rd and 4th. You can also see the Coney Island Fun Guide FB page here.

**Bay Ridge does have an all day July 4th Picnic on Shore Road. See here for more details.

Hugs,
marlene

We went to Transmitter Park last good and we saw the fireworks, but it was crowded. We’re going to try the Kent Ave Piers this year too.
