Families Need Answers From Visitation Academy

On February 6th, Visitation Academy in Bay Ridge announced they were closing the school and monastery and selling the property. (Info) Parents chose Visitation Academy for their daughters, so Visitation should take the time to help and communicate better with these families now.

In both news stories this week, the parents of Visitation students want to keep the school open. They are willing to raise money for the school. (See videos here and here) Many parents just want answers as they are hearing different things.

For some students at Visitation, this will be the second school closure they are going through (as they attended Visitation when they elementary school closed.)

In March, Fontbonne High School announced they will have a middle school program for the students from Visitation. (Info here)

Last October, parents raised over $100,000 for the school. Why did the school ask parents to raise money if they were closing? (See video)

Visitation School should call the parents in and set up a Zoom Meeting for those who can’t attend.

Let the parents ask all the questions they have. The school should be frank with the parents because the parents don’t understand what is going on. Many parents want to know if they could have raise enough money to keep the school open.

I’m surprised that the Bishop Robert J. Brennan didn’t call the families together and pray with them.

The Bay Ridge Community is bracing for the worst. This school is in the center of a quiet area.

We all know what happened at Angel Guardian Home. The Sisters of Mercy were part of that community for over 100 years and then they just cashed out. They went silent and they didn’t care what happened to the building/property or groups connected to Angel Guardian Home. (See here)

Politicians acted as if they were concerned about landmarking. (See here) If you see the building now, landmarking did nothing to stop the overdevelopment around it.

Hugs,
marlene
